Daily Responsibilities
  • Provide educational technology technical support to instructors/students in using Multimedia Lab technologies and resources.
  • Develop and deliver Multimedia Lab orientation sessions.
  • Design, develop, and deliver a Multimedia Lab training curriculum, preparing FSI staff to develop and deliver instruction.
  • Collaborate with the Multimedia Lab support team to provide technical assistance in labs.
  • Design, develop, and deliver, educational technology-based and face-to-face training programs for training FSI staff in the use of traditional and cloud-based eLearning technologies in Multimedia Labs and other environments.
  • Provide educational technology technical support, on the fly, especially in the Virtual Help Room, such as with FSI Learn (Cornerstone), using audio and video.
  • Support media specialists in recording sessions in FSI Recording Studio and perform media duplication services (government-specific training provided).
  • Support students/staff with the use of personal devices to access educational technology services supported by FSI.
  • Recommend appropriate educational technology resources available online and at FSI.
  • Promote and effectively use both standardized and emergent educational technologies in traditional and innovative ways.
  • Develop/write interactive rubric job training aids to support the curriculum.
  • Primarily service, train, and assist FSI School of Language Studies staff and, secondarily, staff from all FSI Schools and Centers.
  • Conduct need analyses, develop training objectives, schedule lesson plans, and evaluate and collaborate on instructional.
  • Use standardized and emergent educational technologies in both traditional and innovative ways.

Required: Years of Experience (min)
  • 2 years of general experience plus 2 years of related experience OR 5 years of general professional experience.

Required: Degree

Bachelor’s degree in a field related to formal training pedagogy.

Preferred: Degree

Master’s degree in Educational Technology or a related field.

  • Technical mindset, aptitude, and experience.
  • Ability to support, conceptualize, and implement simulations and prototyping.
  • Use of educational technologies in educational labs.
  • Knowledge transfer of instructional educational technology techniques to instructional staff.
  • Experience with eLearning development products.
  • Knowledge and expertise using educational technology in online and physical multimedia labs and classroom settings.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with technical issues using educational technology in the classroom, such as using audio and video.
  • Experience using collaborative or social learning environments as tools for learning.

Preferred: Technology Experience
  • Familiar with educational technology resources available to teaching, such as MOOCs.
  • Familiar with the use of devices in learning technologies.
  • Understand HTML 5 (highly preferred)
  • Experience with video teleconferencing technologies, such as Zoom for Government, Adobe Connect, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems, such as Cornerstone.
  • Experience using mobile learning platforms and responsive design frameworks.
  • Experience with learner engagement technology, such as Poll EveryWhere, Kahoot!, Slido, Quizlet, and Mentimeter.
  • Experience with eLearning authoring technology, such as Adobe Captivate, Articulate, Camtasia, Vyond, and Lectora.
  • Experience with graphics design and video editing technology, such as Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Experience with gamification and AI technologies, such as ChatGPT (AI).
  • Experience with survey tools, such as Qualtrics and Survey Monkey.
